Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

At our regular meeting on Friday August 9th our club presented Yarmouth Fire Department Captain Jon Sawyer with 20 smoke detectors, 10 carbon monoxide detectors and 100 9volt batteries which will be given to needy Yarmouth residents. After an earlier presentation to our club about fire safety it was noted that when the fire department enters houses during calls and inspections, it finds many situations where there are non- working detectors or none at all. Sometimes all that is needed is a battery. Members of our club felt that something needed to be done before a serious accident happened resulting in a serious injury or fatality. Our good works committee voted on spending funds to procure the detectors. Interstate batteries, located on Station Ave., So. Yarmouth donated the batteries. A big thank you to Interstate Batteries.
